    What is the origin of the brand name "Giemon"?

    The founder of the Kurume Kasuri cloth we handle is a woman named Den Inoue.
    However, Kurume Kasuri was not created by Den Inoue alone; he had many collaborators.
    One of them is the inventor Hisashige Tanaka, nicknamed "Karakuri Giemon" and "Oriental Edison".
    There is an anecdote that his efforts led to the creation of kasuri with motifs of animals, plants and landscapes.
    Okamoto Shoten Co., Ltd. has decided to use Kurume Kasuri to create new fashion, so we named the brand "Giemon" in honor of Hisashige Tanaka, also known as Karakuri Giemon. .

    Are all the fabrics made in Japan?

    Yes, Kurume Kasuri fabrics are made in Fukuoka in Japan, woven in the southern Chikugo region of Fukuoka Prefecture.
    Some of the different materials and some wide fabrics are made overseas.

    Are all your products made in Japan?

    yes. With the exception of some accessories and sundries, all items are sewn in a workshop in Japan unless otherwise stated on the product page.

    I'm sorry. Currently, we are developing with a small number of talented designers and staff, so it is difficult to hold workshops. Please check the event calendar and event articles.

    We hope that you will like the Giemon products, but if it is difficult, you can return them.

    Repairs are available for a fee.

    I want to buy the fabric, is it possible?

    Giemon also sells fabrics for handicraft workers and traders.
    It is possible to sell from 1m unit. The selling price varies depending on the fabric, so please contact us by e-mail or phone for the product page that uses the fabric you want and the desired number of meters.
