[Column] About Igeta no Kai

We have been involved in the sale of Kurume Kasuri for a long time, and we believe that Okamoto Shoten is only possible thanks to the cooperation with weavers. Each weaver has his own technique and individuality, and we plan and commercialize Kurume Kasuri according to that technique and individuality.

As the title suggests, the Igeta no Kai is a group that aims to develop Kurume Kasuri and create unique Kurume Kasuri by uniting the weaver and our company.

Established in 2004 , it started with 13 weavers and Okamoto Shoten. Currently, 10 weavers and Okamoto Shoten are members.

The purpose of the meeting is to study various phenomena necessary for Kasuri making. Knowledge for making kasuri is necessary in a wide range of fields, including spun yarn, dyes, weaving, loom parts, labor, marketing, design, and intellectual property. In the past, we held regular meetings four times a year, inviting experts from various fields as guest speakers, holding study sessions, and striving to improve our knowledge. In addition, we have visited other production areas and spinning factories, and have interacted with various people.

Currently, we have not held regular meetings since the corona crisis, but I think it is no exaggeration to say that the bond with our friends at this meeting will play a role in the future of Kurume Kasuri. I also think it is significant that horizontal connections within the industry have become more active, leading to a heightened desire for collaboration.

Together with the members of Igeta no Kai, we will continue to deal with various difficult problems and carry out future-oriented manufacturing. Please tell me what to do.
